Satchidananda Ashram in Buckingham, Virginia is a thriving spiritual center with the mission of practicing, living and sharing the Integral Yoga teachings as taught by our founder Sri Swami Satchidananda. The Ashram is seeking a dedicated Executive Director to fulfill our mission.
Reporting to the Board of Trustees and working in collaboration with the Spiritual Life Board, the Executive Director through the Leadership Team oversees programs, guests, operations, finance, fundraising, staff, the harmonious flow of Ashram life and liaising with the Yogaville community.
The applicant embraces the values and practices of Integral Yoga, as well as brings significant leadership experience in nonprofit, retreat center or spiritual organization, and leads with both compassion and clarity.

Executive Director – Qualifications and Responsibilities
The Executive Director has the responsibility for implementing the decisions, policies and goals of the Board of Trustees and Spiritual Life Board. With the leadership team the Executive Director oversees the day-to-day operations and Ashram life.
Qualifications
- Disciple of Sri Swami Satchidananda or have embraced the Integral Yoga teachings as their Spiritual path for at least 5 years.
- Disciple of Sri Gurudev and/or dedicated practitioner of Integral Yoga embraced as one’s faith and lifestyle.
- Embraces the Ashram Lifestyle Principles and Core Values.
- Has verifiable past or present service for the Ashram (or predecessor Ashram), or an Integral Yoga Institute.
- Leadership Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of executive-level management in a nonprofit, retreat center, or spiritual organization.
- Communication Skills: Ability to skillfully communicate and interact with staff, guests, program participants, monastics and other residents.
- Technical Proficiency: Recommended experience with MS Office, Google docs, and retreat management software like Retreat Guru.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
Core Responsibilities
- Financial Stewardship: Maintain the organization’s fiscal health by working closely with the Board of Trustees, Financial Director, Academy Director and Giving Director.
- Operational Management: Oversee daily activities across all departments.
- Leadership Team, Staff and Community Outreach: Work closely with the Leadership Team, Staff and volunteers to implement the Ashram’s mission, vision and goals. Liaise with the Yogaville community to foster harmony and cooperation.
- Representing the Organization: Acts as a spokesperson in dealing with the public, media and guests. Attends Integral Yoga Global Network as the Ashram representative and serves on the IYGN Executive Committee.
- Provide a Positive Example. Through balancing the heart and head, compassion and clarity, act as a role model for the teachings of Integral Yoga and our core values.
