“The Science of Life” — that is the meaning of Ayurveda. With his own depth of experience, Dr. Sullivan takes participants on an exploration of the basic philosophy of Ayurveda. Through this immersion in the scientific and spiritual power of Ayurveda, you will learn how to apply its ancient principles for health, joy, clarity, and balance in your life.
During this weekend retreat:
- Explore in depth instruction and experience of anatomy and physiology of the hatha yoga postures.
- Learn how your individual Prakruti (constitution) type interacts with other dimensions of your life.
- Learn how to enhance and balance your life in accordance with your age, the dailly and season rhythms, diet and nutrition.
- Discover Rasayana (Rejuvenation) and Pancha Karma (Five Cleansing Actions) therapies.
- Daily Hatha Yoga and meditation instruction and practice will help you fully experience the total meaning of peace and wellness of body, mind, and spirit.
- Lectures in applying the principles of Ayurveda and the tri-dosha theory (vatta, pitta, and kapha) for digestive health, nutrition, detoxification, and longevity
- Breathtaking views and hiking trails in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains along the banks of the James River

Dr. Michael Sullivan, D.C., D.Ay., founder and director of Riverview Spa, is a diplomate of Ayurvedic medicine from the International Ayurvedic Institute, He has studied and worked at the Ayurvedic Hospital in Coimbatore, South India and completed advanced studies in Ayurveda in Pune, India.
