Sri Swami Satchidananda (Sri Gurudev) envisioned Yogaville as a heaven on earth. He foresaw a model community where residents and guests would have the opportunity to integrate the teachings and practices of Yoga into all aspects of their daily life. A community whose members practice non-violence in thought, word, and deed, serving and supporting one another with love and compassion. His vision has taken shape.

Our goal at Satchidananda Ashram–Yogaville is to live a life of peace and joy and to share that peace and joy with everyone we meet. We respect all faiths and prescribe to the principle that “Truth is One, Paths are Many.” To date, we’ve welcomed thousands of people from all over the globe and from diverse backgrounds and traditions. Visitors come to experience our interfaith shrine, the Light Of Truth Universal Shrine (LOTUS), and to participate in our many varied workshops, trainings, silent and personal retreats, and guest stays.

Satchidananda Ashram–Yogaville is the headquarters of Integral Yoga International, which includes Integral Yoga Institutes and Integral Yoga Centers all over the world. A thriving community of 200 permanent residents, including householders and monastics (swamis), its 700 acres of forested hills and fields are situated in Buckingham, Virginia, near the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and alongside the historic James River. Calm and pristine, promoting peace and well- being, Satchidananda Ashram–Yogaville has supported thousands of people in their quest to enjoy more peaceful, joyful, and healthy lives through the teachings and practices of Integral Yoga.
