Swami Arivananda, E-RYT 500, has been teaching beginner, intermediate, and advanced Integral Yoga practices for 12 years. She has served as director of programming at the San Francisco IYI and director of the Living Yoga Training (LYT) program at Satchidananda Ashram–Yogaville, conducting classes and lectures, as well as personally guiding the LYTs (trainees) in this residential immersion program.
A highly devotional teacher, she sees Integral Yoga as complementary medicine, drawing into the practice a proper alignment of the body through breath and movement, with a focus on the powerful subtle practices of chanting, deep relaxation, pranayama, and meditation.
Before discovering Integral Yoga, Swami Arivanandaji enjoyed an eclectic career in dance, choreography and performing arts. She has brought the artistry, understanding of movement, and teaching skills used there to the practice of Hatha Yoga. She is now renowned not only for her poetic metaphors and knowledge of Yoga but also for her keen ability to read people’s bodies.
Today, the light and joyful teacher continues to serve at the Satchidananda Ashram – Yogaville headquarters, but also travels the US leading trainings and workshops, spreading her love of the practice, to which she is affectionately bound.
