It Hurts to Be Human: Turning Pain into Power – Online
with Andrew Holecek
April 30 - May 2, 2021
Life is full of challenges. Not surprisingly, the spiritual path itself is filled with obstacles, detours, and snares—countless ways we can be ambushed or get stuck. In this online workshop, we will explore the many ways we suffer and how we can work with physical and psychological pain.
Where does bodywork and therapy fit in? Why does it seem so hard to get enlightened? In trying to alleviate our pain, we can fall into subtle traps, from spiritual bypassing to spiritual materialism to escapism. What are the blind spots on the path and how can we transform them?
Using integral approaches from Yoga, the wisdom traditions, philosophy, psychology, and neuroscience, we will bring these obstacles to light and use them to accelerate the path. This workshop will include contemplations, guided meditations, and plenty of time for discussion.
Live sessions with Andrew on Friday at 7–9 pm, Saturday at 11 am–2 pm and 3:30–6:30 pm, and Sunday at 11 am–2 pm and 3:30–5:30 pm ET.
You will have access to the video recordings for 8 weeks after the program ends, until June 27.
In addition, you will have access to the Ashram’s Live Hatha Yoga classes at 5 pm ET, recorded Ashram meditations, and inspiring talks with Sri Swami Satchidananda. You will also have access to an online social community to connect and communicate with other participants about this course.
