Yin Yoga Teacher Training – Module 2
with Biff Mithoefer, E-RYT 500
October 29 - November 3, 2017
Since the beginning of humankind’s adventure here on Earth, indigenous societies throughout the world have sought guidance through their relationship with archetypal figures. These figures relate to the parts of ourselves that we all share. In this Yin Yoga training, we will look at our journey as humans and teachers through the archetypes of Warrior, Healer, Teacher, and Visionary.
In this training you will:
- Develop body and energy awareness through Yin practice and body meditation
- Learn to follow your “inner teacher” and support others to do the same
- Explore and develop your unique strength and style as a teacher and individual through relationship with the healer, warrior, teacher, and visionary archetypes that are part of us all
- Practice using story, poetry, and metaphors to invite a deeper somatic experience
In this workshop, you will explore the connection between these archetypes and the Taoist understanding of the relationship of Yin and Yang. As you look within this relationship of Yin and Yang, you will discover how important the balance of your Yang Warrior nature and your Yin Healer nature, your Yin Teacher nature and your Yang Visionary nature is for the equanimity of your students and yourself. You will use the tools of Yin Yoga, body meditation, and intentional sharing to experience these archetypes in yourself. By opening to the wisdom of your own body, you will begin to feel where you may be out of balance. Does your strong Warrior nature lack the heart of the Healer? Does your heart’s path lack the power of the Warrior? As a teacher, are you open to your students finding their own path, or are you attached to the outcome of your teaching? Like the Visionary, can you see and tell the truth without blame or judgment, or are you wrapped too tightly in your own stories?

If you haven’t studied with Biff before and plan on coming to the second module, then please get a copy of The Yin Yoga Kit, familiarize yourself with the basic concepts, and do some of the practices in the book or CD.
Contact Hours: The training will consist of approximately 45 contact hours. In order to receive a certificate of completion, Biff will ask each student, during the 30 days following the training, to complete an additional 10 hours of independent study. After completing the independent study, each student will communicate their experience to him by mail or email. Your communication won’t be judged or graded, but Biff will answer all correspondence and send a certificate of completion in a 50-hour Yin Yoga Teacher Training.
Yoga Alliance: The syllabuses for both trainings have been submitted to Yoga Alliance through certain Yoga schools and are part of their 500-hour Teacher Trainings. If you have any questions about Yoga Alliance or the training, please feel free to email Biff at email@example.com.
This training is a stand-alone training open to anyone who has taken Taoism, Anatomy, and Sequencing (Level 1 Training), as well as to any dedicated Yoga students or teachers who are interested in deepening their practice. It is suitable for teachers and dedicated practitioners. You don’t need to be a teacher or even experienced in Yin; just come with an open heart and a willing mind.
To create and hold a safe space for peaceful acceptance is the privilege of the Yin teacher. In this 50-hour training, we’ll look at ways through which we can best support our students in their own journeys as we explore creative and collaborative approaches to teaching and learning.
I have had the best experience of any past teacher trainings! I feel I have learned to teach with a softer, more lenient style and the Ashram opened my heart and mind. Actually, I had a transformation. I will return and advise my Yoga teachers to attend! — Carol Selei
