Yoga for Seniors

with Satya Greenstone, E-RYT 500, C-IAYT

September 19 - 22, 2024

Give yourself a yoga vacation at Yogaville. Yoga classes, meditation, time for walking, talking, breathing, resting, visiting with like-minded peers along with the option for doing nothing.

This workshop brings focus so that we can pay attention to what is happening in the moment. The postures are gentle, with modifications to accommodate any and all situations. They work on every joint in the body; the muscles lengthen, circulation is improved and the spine is brought into spacious alignment. We practice with compassion for self and without judgement. The awareness is on the breath, coordinating it with the movement in an easeful way.

After moving the entire body with mindful attention, we rest to absorb the benefits of the practice. Following this deep repose, we practice several breathing techniques to energize, oxygenate and balance the body/mind. You come away feeling centered, confident and comfortable in your skin.

Benefits of Yoga for Seniors

Multiple, well-designed studies provide data showing that yoga practice has positive effects on cellular aging, mobility, balance, mental health, and prevention of cognitive decline—all areas of concern for older adults. Anyone can participate and gain health benefits with practice.

This workshop provides expert instruction. Adaptation of poses is offered, using blocks, straps, blankets, wall support, or chair whatever is useful and protective for participants at any level of practice.

Return home refreshed, with motivation, inspiration, and the confidence to continue a regular yoga practice.

Satya Greenstone, E-RYT 500, C-IAYT
Satya Greenstone has been a student of Sri Swami Satchidananda since 1971. She has shared the teachings of Integral Yoga® in many diverse settings with students of all ages and backgrounds and combines a natural, practical, down-to-earth approach to Yoga with a gentle humor. Since 1999 she has been a primary teacher for the 200-hour and the Intermediate Yoga Teacher Training programs. While serving as teacher training coordinator, she helped to develop and teach the first Gentle Yoga Teacher Training program. She has also developed and teaches training programs in Restorative Yoga, Adaptive Yoga, and Yoga and Meditation for Children.…
