Lessons from the Bhagavad Gita

with Swami Asokananda, E-RYT 500

May 3 - 5, 2024

Curious to learn more about The Bhagavad Gita? Join senior sannyasin (monk) Swami Asokananda, to explore the Bhaghavad Gita through heart opening explorations and commentaries.

The Bhagavad Gita, one of the essential scriptures of Yoga, teaches us that Self-realization is attained by living skillfully in the world, rather than running away from it. We can use our current challenges to bring out our soul force and live in clarity and peace.

Swami Asokananda will share the key lessons he has learned from the Gita about turning the mind from a resister to a full-fledged partner on the spiritual path.

Gandhi: “When doubts haunt me, when disappointments stare me in the face, and I see not one ray of hope on the horizon, I turn to the Bhagavad Gita and find a verse to comfort me; and I immediately begin to smile in the midst of overwhelming sorrow. Those who meditate on the Gita will derive fresh joy and new meaning from it every day.”

This program offers:

  • Exploration of the Bhagavad Gita
  • Question and answer sessions to dive deeper into the teachings
  • Hatha Yoga practices for cleansing and rejuvenation
  • Delicious, vegetarian meals for an enhanced immune system
  • Opportunities to practice Karma Yoga* (selfless service) in various service areas, including the Yogaville Kitchen, Farm, and grounds

The talks by Swamiji and the guests were wonderful. I also enjoyed the opportunities to chant and meditate as a group. This was my first time doing a retreat with Swamiji. I enjoyed his humor, storytelling, and clear explanations. — Jivani Lisa Drago

I am always grateful for the chance to spend time with Swami Asokananda and hear his take on Yoga philosophy and living in the current day. He asks thought-provoking questions and finds meaning in what his students have to offer. No matter what the course or lecture topic, he offers help with meditation and yoga “off the mat.” — Amy Weinstein

Swami Asokananda is so knowledgeable and willing to share with honesty. It’s always a pleasure to hear him speak. — Devi Peterson

He is one of Yogaville’s primary instructors for Intermediate and Advanced Hatha Yoga Teacher Trainings. He presently serves as president of the IY Institute in New York City.
