Bhakti Yoga Retreat
with Swami Asokananda, E-RYT 500
September 1 - 4, 2023
Bhakti Yoga is the Yoga of love and devotion. It is a spiritual path within the yogic tradition that is rooted in an intense longing for the Divine. Through love, faith, service, and constant remembrance of the Divine—however we conceive of this—we can rise above the illusion of a separate self and experience union with the spirit that dwells within everything.
Join us for a Bhakti Yoga Retreat, led by senior sannyasin (monk) Swami Asokananda, to explore the devotional practices of Bhakti Yoga that will open and nourish your spiritual heart, including kirtan (mantra chanting), puja (worship), japa (mantra repetition), and more.
This program offers:
- Lectures on the path of Bhakti Yoga
- Exploration of the Bhagavad Gita
- Daily group Kirtan and introduction to bhajan (devotional songs)
- Introduction and practice of traditional puja (worship)
- Hatha Yoga practices for cleansing and rejuvenation
- Delicious, vegetarian meals for an enhanced immune system
- Opportunities to practice Karma Yoga* (selfless service) in various service areas, including the Yogaville Kitchen, Farm, and grounds
* Please bring appropriate clothing, sturdy shoes, and water bottles for outdoor service.
What to Expect
Since 1970, Integral Yoga Retreats have provided the sanctuary and solace everyone needs from time to time. Surrounded by a serene woodland landscape, Satchidananda Ashram–Yogaville serves as an ideal environment for rest and relaxation while teachers offer experiential classes in Yoga philosophy, meditation, breathing techniques, Yoga postures, and deep relaxation.
During the retreat, you will have the opportunity to seek support and clarification from Integral Yoga instructors.
Private mentoring is also available upon request.
All Are Welcome
These retreats are open to everyone, from beginners to advanced Yoga retreatants. Those who are new to meditation or Yoga practices will receive full instruction, while those with experience will have the opportunity to deepen their practice.
The talks by Swamiji and the guests were wonderful. I also enjoyed the opportunities to chant and meditate as a group. This was my first time doing a retreat with Swamiji. I enjoyed his humor, storytelling, and clear explanations. — Jivani Lisa Drago
I am always grateful for the chance to spend time with Swami Asokananda and hear his take on Yoga philosophy and living in the current day. He asks thought-provoking questions and finds meaning in what his students have to offer. No matter what the course or lecture topic, he offers help with meditation and yoga “off the mat.” — Amy Weinstein
Swami Asokananda is so knowledgeable and willing to share with honesty. It’s always a pleasure to hear him speak. — Devi Peterson
Swami Asokananda, a monk since 1975, is one of Integral Yoga’s® (IY) foremost teachers—known for his warmth, intelligence, and good humor. His teaching comes out of his own practice and experience while absorbing the wisdom of his Guru, Sri Swami Satchidananda. While he enjoys sharing the practical wisdom of yogic philosophy (especially the great Indian scripture, the Bhagavad Gita), he also loves his practice of Hatha Yoga. He is one of Yogaville’s primary instructors for Intermediate and Advanced Hatha Yoga Teacher Trainings. He presently serves as president of the IY Institute in New York City. Before this position, he served…
