Yoga for Strong Bones Part 1 – Online
with Satya Greenstone, E-RYT 500, C-IAYT
September 17 - 18, 2022
Discover how Yoga asana (posture) can help to build and maintain strong bones.
A 10-year study by Dr. Loren Fishman demonstrated an increase in bone mineral density and improved bone quality with regular practice of 12 Yoga poses. Yoga asana also improves your balance, posture, strength, range of motion, and coordination, greatly reducing the risk of fracture.
Yoga for Strong Bones Part 1, a 2-day online workshop, will offer complete instruction in the 12 Yoga poses for osteoporosis that were taught in the first Yoga vs. osteoporosis study. The foundation poses are taught at 3 levels with guidance for adapting each pose to your level. Instructions include how to progress safely in the practice at home. There will be guided relaxation practices included in every class to reduce stress and allow the benefits of the poses to be fully assimilated.
Continued support after the program
To help maintain a regular home practice you will have access to the following online classes:

Satya’s style is clear, knowledgeable, affectionate, and kind. She willingly takes questions and explains clearly. I’m happy that I was able to take this course! Big thanks to Satya! And also a huge thank you to the Ashram for offering it. — Anna Eidsvik
This was a wonderful learning experience. Satya is generous with her knowledge and remarkable in her teaching. Her work with both experienced yoga teachers and students and the life she has devoted to her teaching inform her work in a way that I have not seen before in such depth. I love the 3 ways of doing each of the poses. For those of us dedicated to keeping yoga in our lives as long as we can, this whole weekend was an eye opener for me. Thank you so much, Excellent video options and picture and sound.
The most valuable aspects of the program were: the detailed Q&A—I now have a deeper understanding of the Integral Yoga tradition; the possibilities of working with the wall for the more complex poses; the opportunity to study with Satya and to learn more about the aspects of gentle Yoga; a new approach added to my own practice as my body ages. Ageism is a problem in our society, but it was not evident here. This class was not made too easy, and instead was sophisticated and yet accessible, interesting always, and open in approach. — Mirabai Judy Hubbell
