Yogaville Blog

Integral Yoga turns 50 this year. To celebrate, we’re following in the footsteps of Sri Swami Satchidananda, circa 1969—by leaving the studio and taking to the festivals.

Sri Swami Satchidananda was nicknamed “The Woodstock Guru” after opening the iconic event in 1969.

Throughout the summer, the Yogaville sangha is traveling to festivals across the Virginia, DC, and Maryland areas, helping to bring the gift of Integral Yoga to the next generation. If you’ve ever wanted to meet us or take a class, mark your calendar and meet us soon:

Love Your Body Festival June 12: Reston, VA

This daylong celebration of inner and outward health features a full schedule of kirtan, healing lessons in Ayurveda, and Hatha Yoga, offered free of charge—with donations accepted, proceeding humanitarian non-profits. It’s the kick-off festival for Virginia Yoga Week, an effort that rallies studios to offer free or $5 classes to the Commonwealth. We’ll have a booth, raffle, and offer a class at 11 am.

Free Yoga in the Fresh Air June 19: Old Town Alexandria (VA/DC)

The closing event for Virginia Yoga Week, Free Yoga in the Fresh Air brings studios and artisans together for a celebration of health in the charming heart of Old Town. We’ll offer a class at 3:30 and be available at our booth all day for connecting.

Shensara-logoShensara July 29–31: Luray, VA

Unleash from the modern world for three days of Yoga, music, meditation, and nature therapy. Yoga from multiple lineages, sustainable living classes, music, and ceremonies tucked away in this 300 acre-property make this new festival a space for bridging your desire to learn and your desire to live fully.

Visit the YogaVillage, located at the heart of the fairgrounds. It’s a place for honoring Integral Yoga; a vibrant haven for the teachings of Sri Gurudev. We’ll offer classes in Hatha and Raja Yoga, as well as a meditation oasis, spaces for relaxation, and gifts.

Lovelight Festival  August 26–28: Darlington, MD

Legendary Woodstock ’69 festival founder Michael Lang is the mastermind behind the Lovelight Festival, a three-day celebration of Yoga’s evolution—from the grassroots of the 60’s counterculture into the modern Yoga movements. Kirtan icon Krishna Das headlines the event, and Integral Yoga International will be presenting special ceremonies, movies, and workshops each day.

Music, movement, and magic: the fourth annual four-day gathering of love and Yoga has grown from a small-town festival to a vibrating Yoga Mecca, attracting visitors from across the nation.

This year, Floyd Yoga Jam will feature Integral Yoga classes each day—including advanced-level Hatha from Yogaville’s Swami Arivananda and Aryuvedic Yoga from Letícia Padmasri.
