Join us down on the Farm – The Yogaville Farm, that is! Our farm consists of six fenced acres and one well-equipped greenhouse. Water from a spring-fed pond located along the banks of the James River is what irrigates these fields. Presently, we are collaborating with area farmers (Twin Oaks, Acorn, Crumptown Farm) to provide a variety of produce for our community. Some of our 2012 crops include: Artichokes, lettuce, kale, chard, spinach, squash, tomatoes, potatoes, pok choi and more! We are beginning a 2013 season seed-saving project in conjunction with Southern Exposure Seed Exchange for tomatoes, peppers, pole beans, southern peas, and corn. Regular activities on the farm include: weeding, mulching, composting, planting, harvesting, and maintaining farm equipment. We are seeking Farm Interns that are ready to contribute their best with a positive attitude in an environment of mutual support and learning. Physical demands of the farm require that applicants be able to comfortably lift 35 lbs.
New Organic Farming Internship candidates who have not completed a qualifying Yogaville resident program† will be required to spend one month in the Living Yoga Training (LYT) Program to get to know the Yogaville culture. Scholarships are available for experienced / qualified applicants. Once service at the farm begins, the daily schedule will also include group meditations, hatha classes and evening programs, and general Ashram service. The schedule allows time for raja yoga classes and Ashram Yogi group meetings with one day off per week. Ashram Farm interns are required to attend a minimum of three hatha classes and eight meditations each week in addition to the weekly satsang program on Saturday. The needs of the farm may vary and are at the discretion of the Farm Manager.
Housing in dorms or trailers, laundry facilities, $35 per month allowance, discounts at our Integral Yoga health store and pure vegetarian food will be provided in addition to the rich yoga and garden training.
