Yogaville’s Organic Farming Internship offers individuals the opportunity to engage in organic, sustainable agriculture while living the mind-body-spirit wellness principles of Integral Yoga.  Interns are needed during the regular planting and growing season from April to November.

yogaville-organic-farming-1The Yogaville Farm consists of six fenced acres and one well-equipped greenhouse. Water from a spring-fed pond located along the banks of the James River irrigates these fields. Presently, we are collaborating with area farmers (Twin Oaks, Acorn, Crumptown Farm) to provide a variety of produce for our community. Some of our crops include: artichokes, lettuce, kale, chard, spinach, squash, tomatoes, potatoes, bok choy, and more! We are involved with a seed-saving project in conjunction with Southern Exposure Seed Exchange for tomatoes, peppers, pole beans, southern peas, and corn. Regular activities on the farm include: weeding, mulching, composting, planting, harvesting, and maintaining farm equipment. We are seeking farm interns who have a positive attitude and who are ready to contribute their best in an environment of mutual support and learning. Physical demands of the farm require that applicants be able to lift 35 lbs comfortably.

yogaville-organic-farmingThe Organic Farming Internship is open to those who have completed at least one month of the Living Yoga Training (LYT) Program, with the recommendation of the LYT Coordinator; to graduates of one of the Ashram’s Integral Yoga Teacher Training programs, with the recommendation of the main Yoga Teacher Training Instructor; and to those who have successfully completed the Ashram Yogi Program. Scholarships are available for experienced/qualified applicants.

The daily schedule includes group meditations, Hatha classes, evening programs, scripture and philosophy classes, meetings, general ashram service, and one day off per week. Since they are also part of the Ashram Yogi Program, each week Organic Farming interns attend a minimum of eight meditations, three Hatha classes, one Ashram Yogi class and meeting, and Saturday evening Satsang. The needs of the farm may vary and are at the discretion of the Farm Manager.
