Yoga for Autism Teacher Training – Level 1

with Sharanya Sharon Manner, E-RYT 500, RCYT and Margabandhu Martarano, E-RYT 500, B.A.

March 24 - 28, 2017

Yoga for Autism Teacher Training helps you learn methods for healing symptoms associated with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs) and prepares you to instruct individuals with diagnosed with Autism.  Instructors Sharanya and Margabandhu explore the symptoms associated with ASDs (such as poor digestion, anxiety, and mania) and provide insight into how Yoga can begin to alleviate afflictions and heal the individual.

Beyond learning postures, you’ll become familiar with proper breathing techniques, relaxation methods, nutrition tips, and other practices that address the unique needs of people on the autistic spectrum. By combining Yoga and Western therapies, this model empowers and guides this population to peacefully achieve their highest potential.

These trainings were designed for parents and caretakers who want to integrate Yoga into their daily services.  The course is also open to Yoga teachers hoping to continue their education, as well as for physical therapists, occupational therapists and special needs teachers who are working with those on the spectrum.

Course Structure

  • Teaching from the heart

  • What the autistic population needs from teachers
  • Personal practice

Testimonials

LOVED the training. It was so helpful and so interesting. I learned so many fun facts about the human body regarding breath and nutrition and the benefits of chanting and Yoga poses. Since the time of the training, I have enjoyed teaching this population even more than before. It’s no longer a guessing game. I know why I’m doing what I’m doing and how it is helping my clients. Having this training has made my job so much more interesting and rewarding. Thank you ever so much for your wisdom, insights and generosity in sharing what you know. — Past Participant

I strongly recommend [this training] for anyone who wishes to practice Yoga with students on this spectrum. The students that I have worked with since this training are developing a love of Yoga. Their teachers are very pleased with their progress. — Stacey Pinke, MS, RD, RCYT, Registered Yoga Teacher
