Join Dr. McLanahan, nationally recognized alternative health specialist and author, and Cinmaya (Cynthia) Moore for this workshop on simple yet profoundly effective mind-body-spirit lifestyle strategies to assist you in your journey to joyful health.
The program will include:
• How to achieve and maintain radiant health through a healthy lifestyle that can prevent and also reverse disease
• Yoga skills that support an optimum lifestyle
• Practical food-, exercise- and meal-choice skills to move toward excellent health
• Fasting and cleansing techniques along with the science behind their use and practical suggestions
• Discussion of other alternative medicine choices such as light and sound therapy, acupressure, massage, aromatherapy, homeopathy and laughter
These lifestyle approaches will emphasize spiritual connection, practical experience and sharing. The workshop will include the teachings of Sri Swami Satchidananda as well as the research of Dr. Dean Ornish (author of Eat More Weigh Less and Love and Survival), and L. Mellin (author of The Solution and The Pathway).
This “inside out” approach to a healthy lifestyle is appropriate for anyone struggling with health issues or simply wanting to achieve and maintain optimum health. It is ideal for both beginners to Yoga and those looking to deepen their practice. Dr. McLanahan will also be available for individual health consultations (additional fee applies).
Amrita (Sandra) McLanahan, M.D., is a nationally recognized authority on preventive medicine, nutrition, stress reduction and primary family health care. As Director of Stress Management Training at the Preventive Medicine Research Institute for twenty years, she worked with Dr. Dean Ornish to document the benefits of dietary change and stress management to prevent and treat cardiovascular disease and cancer. Dr. McLanahan is the author of the book Surgery and its Alternatives: How to Make the Right Choices for Your Health and is the medical consultant for the book Dr. Yoga.
Cinmayi (Cynthia) Moore, M.S., R.D., C.D.E. is a Certified EBT Provider and Trainer in EBT/The Solution Method ™ . She is a registered dietitian, certified diabetes educator, Integral and cardiac Yoga instructor. She is assistant clinical nutrition manager of outpatient nutrition services at the University of Virginia. She offers 3-4 EBT/Solution groups weekly in addition to individual nutrition counseling and EBT coaching. In the past she’s designed spa wellness, healthy restaurant fare and employee health programs, worked in major teaching hospitals and healthcare centers. Cinmayi (Cynthia) credits the EBT/Solution skills with enhancing her own intimacy and boundary setting skills, and as the “missing pieces” in healthy lifestyle change.
