Fasting is the world’s oldest health remedy. Fasting is taking a rest from food. It is simple and natural.
“ Fasting allows you to eliminate toxins from your system. When you fast, anything that’s not good for your system is cast out, because the energy in your body that is normally used to digest your food is used for this elimination. The purpose of fasting is to experience good health—no more aches and pains anywhere. Your body won’t bother you. When you sit and meditate you won’t have physical distractions; you will simply have forgotten your body..Whatever you want to do, know that the body must come first. Take care of it. Fasting is a wonderful opportunity to do that.” —Swami Satchidananda from The Golden Present
