Joy of Health Through Yoga Retreat
with Amrita Sandra McLanahan, M.D., Sumati Steinberg R.N.
Join us for this relaxing, health-filled retreat, designed to help you detoxify and rejuvenate your body, mind and spirit and to give you tools and motivation to continue to make your health a priority when you return home. You will spend three restful nights and four relaxing days in our beautiful LOTUS Conference Center overlooking the James River.
Every morning and evening, nationally recognized holistic health physician, Amrita Sandra McLananhan, M.D., and Sumati Steinberg, R.N will outline recipes for success in their healthy-living workshops.
They will discuss yogic techniques and dietary considerations that can assist you in:
• losing weight
• decreasing high blood pressure, cholesterol and stress
• reversing diabetes, heart disease and cancer
• relaxing and reenergizing
Each morning you will greet the day with meditation and Hatha Yoga classes and continue to refresh and de-stress body and mind with noon and evening meditation and afternoon Hatha Yoga, Pranayama and deep relaxation workshops along with laughing yoga, restorative yoga and gentle yoga classes. Everyday you will enjoy delicious, nutritious, organic vegetarian meals. There will be also time allotted for nature walks, massages or health consultations (at an additional fee).

Amrita (Sandra) McLanahan, M.D., is a nationally recognized authority on preventive medicine, nutrition, stress reduction and primary family health care. As Director of Stress Management Training at the Preventive Medicine Research Institute for twenty years, she worked with Dr. Dean Ornish to document the benefits of dietary change and stress management to prevent and treat cardiovascular disease and cancer. Dr. McLanahan is the author of the book Surgery and its Alternatives: How to Make the Right Choices for Your Health and is the medical consultant for the book Dr. Yoga.
Sumati Steinberg, R.N. is the nurse wellness coach at Kyanite Mining Corporation. As head of their comprehensive Wellness Program, she teaches and coaches employees on all aspects of health promotion and disease prevention. She served as Dr. Amrita McLanahan’s Personal Assistant for eight years and was the administrator for the Integral Health Center in the 90s. Sumati is married, with three children and two grandchildren. She grew up in a yogic household and raised her children with the same guiding principles.
