Camp Yogaville is Integral Yoga® for kids—a week-long summer camps for children ages eight to twelve, held at Yogaville. It’s a great opportunity for kids to enjoy a week in the country, learn about Yoga and have lots of fun doing traditional camp activities, such as hiking, swimming, sitting around a campfire and telling stories.
The kids enjoy non-competitive, stress-free activities filled with opportunities to share and relate in a yogic way. They practice daily Hatha Yoga, learn about Patanjali’s four locks and keys and experience the wonderful adventure of sleeping in rustic cabins. They learn a few Sanskrit chants along with their campfire songs and listen to wonderful stories of saints and sages from all over the world.
At Camp Yogaville, kids experience an environment where yogic ideals such as vegetarian diet and non-violence are supported and nurtured.
Abhaya Norton-Stein is the new director of Camp Yogaville. Abhaya is a resident of the Yogaville community and serves the Ashram in numerous ways. She is an Intergral Yoga instructor and has completed Haris Lender’s Kidding Around Yoga Training. Abhaya loves working with children, has three children and two grandchildren. She was also a foster parent for troubled teens for several years.
Reverend Sam Rudra Swartz was introduced to Integral Yoga and the teachings of Sri Swami Satchidananda while serving tables as a waiter in a New York City bar in 2001. Since that time he has been active in the Integral Yoga organization, living at Yogaville and the Integral Yoga Institute of New York. He recently completed Accessible Yoga Teacher Training offered through Integral Yoga Institute in San Francisco. Rudra graduated from Boston University’s College of Fine Arts and is an active musician. He is also a graduate of the All-Faiths Seminary in New York, where he received ordination from the late Rabbi Joseph Gelberman as an interfaith minister.
Sam Eberle has lived in Yogaville for ten years and has served as a Camp Yogaville Councilor for the last four years. In 2002 he spent two months building schools in Kenya and spent all his free time playing with the local children. Sam is the head of Shakticom, the Integral Yoga multimedia center in Yogaville, as well as the webmaster for Yogaville.org. He is also a member of Yogaville’s Board of Trustees. Sam Eberle’s sole purpose in life is to have fun. Sam will entertain and educate your children about the benefits of enjoying every aspect of our daily activities during camp (maybe even cleaning the dishes).
